Getting Started with WasteTracking
Table of Contents
The WasteTracking module records waste that is prepped, recorded, and printed on the DateCodeGenie device for menu items set up with product control tracking on a 1-to-1 ratio.
The benefits of using WasteTracking include:
- You can use the RightBytes tablet to scan waste—no additional scanner needed with your DateCodeGenie device.
- If you use multiple DateCodeGenie devices at a single location, staff can scan and waste labels printed from multiple devices on one app.
Prerequisites
Before starting to use WasteTracking, you will need:
- DateCodeGenie with product control tracking software add-on.
- Product control tracking set up in the portal, see Set Up Product Control Tracking in the Portal
- DateCodeGenie printer profiles that include the Print ID feature, NOT the barcode.

Dashboard
The dashboard opens with the waste scanner that staff use on the tablet.

Wasted
From Wasted, you can see the record of items wasted and their waste reason.

Select the Time Range to view records within the set time period.

Pending
Waste records in WasteTracking will appear as pending if the DateCodeGenie app has not downloaded updates and synced prepped data.
The pending record will automatically be moved to wasted once the DateCodeGenie app downloads updates and syncs.
NOTE
Pending waste records will not appear in InsightsAI.

WasteTracking automatically retries pending records every fifteen minutes. To manually retry, click the retry button (arrow circle icon) next to an individual waste record, or click Retry All.

4. Staff Training
