Creating duplicate item names in the portal can cause a number of issues.

Issues include:

  • Errors during mass import
  • Unable to select correct item in a prep list
  • Product control waste tracking issues in app
  • Unable to report which items in print history
  • Wrong item being selected on the app

Instead of duplicate item names, we recommend:

  • Giving items unique names, can be slightly different
  • Making a similar item unique by inserting a period in front of the item name or adding a tag, like the location name, after the item.
  • Using the marketing name field, see Item Name vs Marketing Name
