Location Overrides using the Menu Items tab Location Overrides using Mass Export and Import NOTES

Location Overrides allow you to manage menu items by location without creating separate menus. This is helpful when some locations require different pricing, availability, or other menu item features.

See Location Overrides for a complete list of location overrides features.

When you download updates on the app of the device, the appropriate features will display for menu items at the location the device is assigned to.

TIP & TRICK

  • Add all your menu item location overrides using the Location Overrides tab of the Mass Export. See Updating and Adding Data to my Portal Using Mass Export
  • Want to save time? When adding a new location to your portal, you can use Mass Export and assign it to menu items via Location Overrides. This automatically adds the location to the menu items while adding the location overrides after reimport in Mass Import. For steps, see the Location Overrides using Mass Export and Import accordion below.

Location Overrides using the Menu Items tab

Use this method to update Location Overrides one menu item at a time. It is best for when only a few menu items or locations need updates.

1. Log in to the portal at www.datecodegenie.com using the recommended browser. See Supported Internet Browser for Portal Access

2. Scroll down and click on the Menu Items tab on the side bar.

3. Click the Edit button (pencil icon) for a menu item or create a new item, see Add or Edit Menu Items Permission

4. Scroll down to the Location Overrides section.

5.  Find the row for the location and the feature column you need to add, double-click where they meet to add the required data. Repeat for each feature and location.

6. Scroll to the top of the page and click Save Changes.

Location Overrides using Mass Export and Import

Use this method when you need to add new menu items at once, such as when assigning the menu items to a location with location overrides. It is best for large menus or multiple locations.

1. Go to the Mass Export tab.

2. Request an export from the export button in the upper right corner of the page.

3. Click OK at top of page to confirm request.

4. Refresh browser and scroll down on the page to Exports or wait to receive an email (sent to email used for portal login) notifying you your export is ready to be downloaded.

5. Open the downloaded file from your computer's download file or at the bottom left corner and first Enable Editing in the yellow bar at the top of the document.

NOTES

  • Do not add/delete columns, change column headers, or modify formatting.
  • To completely remove a menu item or override, you must delete it directly in the portal, the template will not remove items.

6. Select the Menu Item tab at the bottom of the template.

7. Add the new menu items along with the category names and enter at least one generic location name to which the menu items can be assigned to in your portal.

8. Select the Location Overrides Option tab at the bottom of the template.

9. Copy and paste those new menu items from the Menu Items tab into the Food Name column and enter the location names you need them to be assigned to in your portal.

10. Enter any location specific data for your new menu items within the columns of the Location Overrides Option tab.

11. Save the updated template to your computer.

12. Go to the Mass Import tab.

13. Click Choose File and select the updated template.

14. The template file name will display. Toggle Menu Items and Location Overrides tab to Y (orange) to upload the template data to the portal and click the Upload button to begin uploading.

15. Review and correct any errors by toggling between both tabs.

16. Click Import to update your portal once review and corrections are done.

17. Click the Done button to complete the import and return to the Dashboard tab to see updated data content displayed.
