NOTE NOTE

The dynamic QR code and dynamic QR code text are printer profile features designed for another system to read data.

  • Dynamic QR code feature: Generates a unique QR code that contains set data fields.
  • Dynamic QR code text feature: Generates the data in a text version as backup readable text that can be scanned by OCR software.

There are four QR code fields for data that can be added to both features based on your system's needs:

  • Facility Code: A location field for a short code used to identify the location. Facility codes are added to locations, see Manage Locations.
    • For dynamic QR codes and text, set a facility code that can be read by your system.
  • SKU: A menu item field for the SKU. SKUs are added to menu items, see Manage Menu Items.
  • Product ID: A menu item field for a menu item identifier other than SKU. Product IDs are added to menu items, see Manage Menu Items.
    • For dynamic QR codes and text, set a product ID based that can be read by your system.
  • Batch Code: A auto-generated nine digit identifier unique for each print.
    • The batch code comes from the Julian date followed by five digits that increase with each print (YYDDXXXXX).
    • The five digit count resets at midnight.

NOTE

Make sure facility code, SKU, and product ID are set up if using those fields.

Different QR code fields can be added to each feature.

Steps:

1. Log in to the portal at www.datecodegenie.com using the recommended browser. See Supported Internet Browsers for Portal Access.

2. Click on the Printer Profiles tab on the side bar.

3. Click the Edit button (pencil icon) from a Printer Profile to edit, or add new Printer Profile. See Manage Printer Profiles.

4. Click the Layout Designer button.

5. Find the Dynamic QR Code and Dynamic QR Code Text features under the Dynamic Field group. Drag and drop one or both of these features onto the layout preview window.

6. Type a Separator to add characters before and after each data field. Separators are based on what your software uses to separate data fields when reading.

7. Select the Format to set the layout to display in a row or column.

8. Click Add for the QR Code Fields you would like to include.

Fields will appear in the order they are added, so add the QR code fields based on desired sequence.

9. Click Save Changes.

10. Test print the printer profile on the DateCodeGenie app.

NOTE

You can test the dynamic QR code by scanning the QR code on your phone and checking that the information appears correctly.
